St Martin's Le Grand
Refined resilience
in the heart of London
At 16 St Martin’s Le Grand, a landmark of the Chicago School of Architecture in the heart of London, the past and present meet in perfect balance. Once the head office of renowned clothing manufacturer Courtaulds, the Grade II listed building has undergone a sensitive and striking refurbishment. The result: a modern, flexible workspace across 8,205 m² that honours its rich architectural legacy while delivering future-ready performance.
The retrofit includes a new reception, workspaces, and gym, all underscored by a commitment to sustainability through an all-electric, low-carbon mechanical services solution. Inside, a refined palette of rich hues, textured finishes, and modern-classic furnishings echo the vibrancy of the building’s past. Original features such as the sawtooth rooflights and vertical façade proportions have been thoughtfully restored, breathing new life into the heritage shell.
As a final layer of sophistication, d line hardware in PVD black and bronze was selected to complement the refined materiality of the interiors. From lever handles to door accessories, each piece offers exceptional durability and tactile quality, crafted in AISI 316 stainless steel with a finish built to endure.
