Story in point: Meet our Production Manager
Since 1971, d line has been a brand with a strong focus on delivering products of timeless design and superb quality standards. These design classics should never have to be bought for a purpose more than once. It might seem like a bold statement to make, but we are able to keep this promise and maintain the extraordinary quality of our products because we own our factory and repeatedly follow along on the production journey. We’ve met up with d line Production Manager Vytautas Krasnickas to discuss production, sustainability and the future aspirations for d line.
Effort equals endurance
We rely on the human touch during our production process and the craftsmanship that is required to achieve this quality is meticulous. But why do we put so much effort into labor-intensive work, like polishing by hand? Production manager Vytautas Krasnickas thinks that this is what makes d line unique as a brand.
“I think it’s our uniqueness, and it allows us to get the quality we as a brand and our customers desire. The products should exude exclusivity and for them to do so, it’s necessary to have trained professionals carry out the process by hand”.
Grinding, polishing, bending, and welding – all of these stages of our production are undertaken by people, with the help of specialized machines. According to Vytautas, no automated machine can ever manage to produce the same quality as we do by hand, and that is our biggest strength.
“It can take up to six months or more to fully master some of the most difficult workstations, so we especially value our employees for mastering this task so well”.
Choosing consciously
We live in a time when people are highly aware of sustainability. Nowadays, customers are increasingly deciding to make purchases based on the materials and the methods used in the production. We use resilient, acid-proof and 100% recyclable AISI 316 steel in our production as it is the strongest, most hard wearing steel for these types of purposes. In the production of the stainless steel no chemicals are used, nor any contaminating surface treatments.
Becoming more and more sustainable as a brand is a constant journey. We always aim to evolve and take our part in that responsibility. So, what is currently on our sustainability agenda?
“Right now, we are actively working on getting our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. The ISO 9001 certification is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system, and it will help us to become more efficient in our production and improve customer satisfaction. The ISO 14001 certification provide organizations with a framework to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions” – says Vytautas.
Our Europe-based production is a vital part of d line as a brand, as it not only helps us to control our production process but also allows us to maintain a tight focus and a productive attitude towards the efficiency, quality, and endurance of our products.
“To me, creating products with a future and longevity in mind creates meaning and value on so many levels, and I’m proud to take part in that journey with d line”.
